Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Community will develop the vibrancy for GLRF. To make this website more than a resource and a newsletter, it must have an active Community Page and a thriving Message Board. GLRF will offer five Community Pages, intended for specific segments of the gay and lesbian rowing world. Each of those Community Pages will have a matching message board. The most immediate task is to make the Community Pages come alive, and tempt our members to stay within close clicking distance. Each of the message boards are packed with features that offer every GLRF member an unbelievable range of options to chat, message, and post. The challenge will be in finding the right mix of moderators and helpful message board protocol to set the flow in the right direction.

The Director of Community will work with the gay and lesbian rowing Clubs wherever possible to assist them in maintaining a strong, long lasting organization. The areas where GLRF might be able to assist will vary depending on the club: promotions, clinics, recruiting, and fundraisers are examples.

Because GLRF strives to be an umbrella organization that represents rowers worldwide, every country must be involved. The Director of Community will act as point of contact for inquiries and requests for the worldwide rowing community.

As the GLRF infrastructure begins to grow, one of the most valuable resources that GLRF can offer its members and visitors is a resource for support. Both rowers and coaches face the challenge of dealing with the “issue.” One aspect where GLRF can make a difference is through an active awareness campaign among coaches around the world to let them know GLRF can offer them or their rowers some advice and share some solutions. This will be one of the more challenging but also one of the most rewarding tasks for the Director of Community

GLRF seeks an outgoing, effervescent, positive, enthusiastic, easygoing, multi-tasking super alien creature to take on the role of putting on the GLOW.
