Important News
Following the draw, the racing program will be posted on the website by 1 July 2006.
Racing schedule, as well as the crews� names for each event will be available.
We remind you, that in case of empty lanes in any waves, additional boat may be entered after the official program posted on the website and until 28 July 2006, at 15:00 according to availability in the race. Therefore, no additional wave will be added.
Additional entry request to fill any empty lane as well as any crew change must be sent by email directly to the rowing registration manager Pierre Campeau at pcampeau@montreal2006.org

OVERVIEW
The Rowing regatta will welcome a maximum of 650 participants. Competitions will be at the Olympic Basin on �le Notre-Dame.

SANCTIONED BY SANCTION
The F�d�ration Internationale des Soci�t�s d�Aviron (FISA or the International Federation of Rowing Associations) has registered the regatta in its official international rowing regattas calendar .

RULES
The rules of the International Federation of Rowing Associations (FISA) will be used in competitions.The FISA Rule Book is available here.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION

  1. All races will be run for a distance of 1,000 metres. The Organising Committee reserves the right to regroup or cancel races in the case of insufficient registration in any given category.
  2. Competitors may enter as many events in one day as they wish, but must be aware that they are responsible for their own health and safety.
  3. The racing timetable will not be altered to accommodate rowers registered for events scheduled too close together.
  4. Members of the same boat should wear the same uniforms, with the exception of mixed teams. Mixed teams, excluding the coxswain, must have the same number of men and women. The gender requirement does not apply to the coxswain.
  5. Teams are required to register with the Control Commission prior to the scheduled start time for each race.
  6. The weigh-in for lightweight rowers and coxswains competing in the Open category will be conducted, as per the FISA Rules of Racing, no less than one hour and not more than two hours before their first race of each event (See FISA rules 21 and 24). Boats will not be weighed.
  7. The traffic rules established for training and competition periods must be respected at all times.

COMPETITION FORMAT
The 1
st World Outgames Regatta will take place over two days and will not include qualification rounds. Each heat of each event is final; there will only be one winning boat per heat.

This category is open to participants with physical disabilities who meet the criteria established for disabled rowers.

NOTE: To participate in this category, rowers must provide medical documentation attesting to their disability and their classification. They also must contact their own rowing federation to obtain their adaptive rowing classification.

Race events will be held in numerical order according to the list of events below. Each race will be a final and there will therefore be one winning boat per race. Competitors may register now for as many races as they wish. The race schedule will be established according to the number of registrations received and will respect the numerical order of events. It is therefore important to register by carefully noting the event number, the category and the type of boat.

Notes
The rowing course will be officially open for training starting on Thursday, 27 July from 7:30 to 20:00 until Saturday, 29 July at 20:00.
During this time, training will be supervised by security boats and medical services will be available on-site. We ask you to be cautious when approaching the 1,000 metre start area.

Boat Rental
Boat rental during the 1
st World Outgames will be organised by the Montr�al Rowing Club (MRC).

Visit the website of the Montr�al Rowing Club form information about rental procedures and fill out the on-line rental inquire form.

Upon filling out the form, the Montr�al Rowing Club will contact you by e-mail or phone once the full rental form becomes available in February 2006.

The Montr�al Rowing Club can also be contacted via e-mail at rental@avironmontreal.com.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE
The official race programme will be available as soon as the draw has been completed, two weeks after the registration deadline, and will be posted on our website at least two weeks before the event. The programme will be structured according to the number of participants registered in each event.

GENERAL INFORMATION
For traffic rules during competition, Refer to map outlining water traffic rules.

Withdrawal (Rule 49)
Withdrawals must be communicated in writing to the Organising Committee at least 1 hour before the first heat of the event. Once declared, the withdrawal is irrevocable.

Bow Numbers
Teams will be called by event to the loading docks. Bow numbers will be available at the Control Commission office at least 45 minutes before the scheduled start of the race in question. After the race, numbers will be collected by members of the Control Commission.

Course monitoring
During training, coaches may follow their teams by bicycle along the course; however, each cyclist is responsible for his or her own safety and security and must respect pedestrians.
For security reasons, it is forbidden to follow the race by bicycle during the competition.

Boat Trailers
Trailers must be unloaded immediately upon arrival and boats must be placed in their assigned locations. Once empty, trailers must be parked in a designated area. All trailers must vacate the site by 22:00 on August 1
st 2006.

Boat Park
Boat supports will be available in the reserved participant area in the Boat Park.

The assignment of boat locations is the responsibility of the Organising Committee. Captains must contact the Boat Park Coordinator upon arrival at which time detailed information will be provided.

Parking
Vehicle access to parc Jean-Drapeau on the Island of Notre-Dame will be limited and controlled as a result of the numerous activities scheduled at this venue. Only vehicles dedicated to boat transport will be allowed on the competition site via the Cosmos Bridge.
We suggest that all participants use public transit to access the Olympic Basin.

ACCREDITATION
During the accreditation, participants from Canada will be required to show government-issued identification with a photo. For athletes from all other countries, a passport will be the preferred form of identification. Furthermore, every participant will be required to provide his or her participant number.

MEDALS
Every participant in the 1
st World Outgames Montr�al 2006 event will receive a participation medal. To recognize personal achievement in Rowing, a gold medal will be awarded for the first place of each wave for all categories. Flight for each event (as each event may be comprised of many flights).

RESULTS
Results will be posted at the competition site as well as on the web site of the 1st World Outgames.

As you exit the Jean-Drapeau m�tro station, follow the signs towards and after crossing the Cosmos Bridge, turn left towards the Olympic Basin.
