The Chattanooga Rowing Center on the Tennessee River. This river may look peaceful but when the rains come, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) gives folks like the Rowing Center just a few hours notice that they will open the gates upstream. The river can rise 13 feet in a matter of an hour. The club has to rush down and move as many boats to high ground as they can but they told me stories of swimming inside the boathouse, trying to tie down floating shells ...!!!
