Gent Watersportbaan
The Watersportbaan is a five lane rowing race course in the Belgian city of Ghent. It is 2300 metres long and 76m wide and was first used in 1954. Despite most major international Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron (FISA) regattas are designed to adhere to the 8-lane Albano format, this race track is suited for 2 medium-sized international FISA Regattas, but also for smaller competitions. The two annual regattas are Spring Regatta (Spring Regatta) and Meiregatta (May - Regatta). The images here were taken when GLRF visited the water stadium in March 2012. The course takes the shape of a long shaft with a protuding 'head' (no pun intented ... sort of) after the finish line. The course from start to finish is in a South East direction. The images were taken from a bicycle and began at the lower left of the 'head and then proceed counter clockwise around the head and then up the northern edge of the shaft, around the base, and then back up down the course/shaft toward the head ...- Album created by glrfcentral
