The GLRF Worldwide Community grew by one to 19 countries when a rower from Praha (Prague) registered in early May. Rowing is big and well organized in the Czech Republic. You’ll see what we mean if you take a peak at the CZ GLRF Global Rower page. Actually, you’ll see these “club” sections from most of the national rowing associations on all the Global Rower pages. Of course, the Australian’s is a little more complicated…..

If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, then we will admit to copying the “Picture This” section of Outsports by featuring cool rower pics in the Collegiate and Junior communities section. We only have a few pictures so we need you to send us some new links. Crank up those emails rowers!

Effective 30 May 2006, rowers can now register for just the regatta portion of the Montreal 1st World Outgames for CA$75. The policy applies to all sports but we only care about rowing! We have developed a FAQ Guide to help you sort through the details. See the GLRF Montreal page. Also, because of this new registration program, the deadline for boat lineups and race entries has been extended to 16 June 2006.

We have created a separate page for the current world records for rowing, using the World Rowing website. Drop by the Open/Elite Community and see if any of these rowers are even close to your times!

We have resumed promotion of the Chicago Gay Games rowing regatta with the completion of the permit approval process at Crystal Lake. The regatta will be held on Sunday, 16 Jul 2006. Late registration ends on 15 Jun 2006. See the GLRF Chicago page.
