Cox Box Squax Issue 018
Get back on the water in Florida!
We are proud to present the Gay and Lesbian Spring Sculling Week in West Palm Beach, Florida, 20 Mar – 26 Mar. Developed in association with the Florida Rowing Center, there are three rowing programs to select: 7 day, 4 day, and 3 day. So come for the weekend, or come early and then chill in South Beach. Great for rowers in Europe and North America. Check out the 2006 Spring Sculling Week.
GLRF Seat Search is getting some use
Rowers are beginning to use the GLRF Seat Search program to find seats in boats, and also to help fill their own boats. We have listings from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and Australian listings are soon to follow. The program works equally as well for those teams who are putting together a boat and need one or two rowers. Just use the Boat Seat Search. Submitting an entry requires an OnTheWater membership but reviewing the listings is free for any and all!
Hey y’all: 2006 Austin Winter Retreat
It’s that time of year again, when the wonderful Row Team Austin family hosts a long weekend on Town Lake in Austin. This year’s dates are 17 – 20 Feb. The laid back weekend provides for some nice time on the water and some fun off the water. Would you like a Margarita? Bless your heart!
Join us at the San Diego Crew Classic
GLRF will host a booth at the Crew Classic 01 – 02 Apr. This eights-only regatta is famous for rigorous competition as crews fly in from all over North America. Stop by the booth and put your entire boat in a set of rainbow socks! See you there.
A rowing camp at the University of Michigan?
The coaching staff at the University of Michigan are considering offering a pre-Gay Games and pre-Montreal rowing camp this summer, which would also be an opportunity for "put together" mixed boats to train before heading off to either competition. We have created a forum on ALL OARS for rowers to chat about the idea, and discuss dates, lengths, etc. The coaches would be gay/lesbian, and gay friendly, and the boats are awesome! (as always, send us an email if you need help with message board access)
Boathouse chat – 11 Feb 2006 @ 22:00 GMT
With the continued growth of our global community, it makes sense to host a monthly chat where members can interact. We’re looking for a good online IRC-type chat program right now. Check the Main Boathouse for updates and how to log in.
