The first Italian, and a Roman at that, has registered with GLRF. Following a news item on the official Italian Rowing Federation website, Federazione Italiana Canottaggio, an elite rower clicked into GLRF. We hope this registration will mark a turning point in Europe as rowers in other, more conservative nations, see the Italian flag and register. Now all we have to do is translate the page into Italian. Read all the news in the Torino Times.

HitTheWater!2005 is a global campaign. To that end, GLRF contacted CRC Sculling Camps in the United Kingdom and requested that GLRF be permitted to feature the worldwide CRC sculling camps. Their response was absolutely! “The CRC philosophy is to make sculling an inclusive sport and we welcome anyone that shares our dedication and love for the sport.” GLRF OnTheWater Members receive a 5% discount.

Ahhh, the lure of rowing and Chianti wine. The owner of the Terralba Sculling Camp in San Miniato, Pisa, has offered to host a gay and lesbian 4-day rowing weekend at the end of September: 23 – 26. A discussion topic and poll has been set up for rowers to comment on ALL OARS, under HitTheWater!2005. The weekend is available to all rowers. GLRF OnTheWater members will receive a program discount. Rowers who missed the 31 Dec 2004 early registration deadline for the 2006 Chicago Gay Games have a new hope. The Prepay Groups/Teams program allows teams of 5 or more to register through 31 Mar 2005 at the 2004 price of US$125. Now hang on. Before you take the rate up 10 strokes, you have to know this price is for the base registration only. Rowers still have to pay a US$75 sports fee as well. Look it over.
