GLRF is proud to announce a formal partnership with the Craftsbury Sculling Center. The agreement includes promotional links on both websites and the co-sponsor and host of a Gay and Lesbian Pride Sculling Weekend at Craftsbury on 24 – 26 Jun 2005. The Craftsbury agreement is the first participant in the new GLRF Rowing Partner program designed to promote rowing among the gay and lesbian community.

With the announcement of the Craftsbury partnership, GLRF formally launched its new 2005 marketing campaign, HitTheWater!2005. The slogan focuses on training and helps crews prepare for the 2006 World Outgames and the 2006 Gay Games by developing sweep and scull training camps worldwide. Got a gay specific weekend or just a gay-friendly camp to add? Let us know. We will endeavor to lobby for a GLRF discount!

GLRF can now add South America to its list of worldwide community. GLRF received its first registration from Brasil when a rower from Rio De Janeiro signed on. Soon thereafter, a rower from Sao Paulo signed up as well. Take a look at the GLRF Brasil Global Rower page – already translated into Portuguese!

Rendez-Vous Montreal 2006, organizers of the 1st World Outgames, has extended their early registration program until 31 Jan 2005. Take advantage of this offer and save $50CAD. Originally scheduled to end on 31 Dec 2004, the early registration was extended after so many people bombarded the Montreal site with emails just before the close of the year. Chicago Gay Games Inc. has already moved into regular registration.

Are you looking to escape the cold and get some time on the water? Come on down to Austin for the 2005 Winter Retreat, 18 – 21 Feb 2005. Now in its 5th year, the Winter Retreat offers a full weekend of rowing and social activities for men and women. The clinic is focused on novice and intermediate rowers.
