GLRF secures first sponsors
GLRF is proud to announce its first sponsors after the launch of its sponsorship program on 01 Oct 2004. Subaru has signed on as a North American GLRF Continental Sponsor, and Rowing News and HDO Sports both signed on as GLRF Local Sponsors. We offer four levels of sponsorship to address the marketing and brand needs of companies around the world: Global, Continental, Regional, and Local. Additionally, GLRF is offering companies the opportunity to sponsor the GLRF Community Pages. Do you have a company in mind that might consider sponsoring GLRF? Read up!
Rainbow Socks – helping rowers fundraise
Subaru gave GLRF 3,300 rainbow socks as a value in kind sponsorship. GLRF sold over 400 at $2US/pair at the Head of the Charles. They are a TOTAL HIT. We are glad to make them available to any and all GLRF rowers as a fundraiser. Buy them from GLRF for $1US and resell them for $5US or EU3 or L2 or whatever. Use the proceeds to benefit your boathouse or club. Sell them at a gym, a festival, wherever. Buy them in lots of 100 or more. We pay the shipping. Click here.
Getting OnTheWater
While most rowers in the Northern Hemisphere are getting off the water, GLRF is pushing off the dock with a new campaign to encourage members to upgrade their membership to OnTheWater. The benefits will be access to the Rowers Network, unlimited use of the Seat Search program, and discounts on GLRF merchandise and sports gear. More benefits are in the works. Get a free pair of rainbow socks with each upgrade or renewal. Rowers count off!
GLRF member Joe A. wins Apple iPod mini
The GLRF booth at the Head of the Charles included a raffle for 13 prizes, the most valuable being an Apple iPod MP3 player. Exactly 141 raffle tickets were purchased by straight and gay rowers, but in a very fitting result, our Minneapolis Boat Club GLRF member, Joe A., submitted the winning ticket. Congratulations Joe, and click here to see a list of all the winners!
Montreal & Chicago – register now and save!
Notice that we said “and.” GLRF supports rowing whenever and wherever there are opportunities for gay and lesbian rowers to compete. We are promoting both regattas and encourage all rowers to consider competing in one or both. Clearly, it is not the best situation since almost no one has the time or resources to attend both. On the world scene, there are calls for reconciliation between the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) and the Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association (GLISA), as well as press releases supporting just one of the organizations. We just want to row.
