GLOBAL ROWER – a new look and the missing link?
There is a big change in the GLRF website. The GLOBAL ROWER page replaces the CLUB page. Each country page now helps all rowers stay better connected locally. When gay and lesbian rowers register with GLRF, they can keep up on the local happenings within their country by:
- posting announcements on the select GLOBAL ROWER page
- submitting news items for the country specific GLRF Latest News pages
- participating in the chat forums for each country on ALL OARS.
We will add more features such as tailored newsletters and space for web page postings soon. Please have a look!
Montreal 2006 extends deal just for rowers
The special Early Team Registration promotion that provided for one free registration with a team registration of 5 or more has now closed – except for rowers. Through a special arrangement with GLRF, Montreal has extended the Early Team promotion to all rowers until 31 Dec 2004, AND for an unlimited number of teams. See full details.
2005 and beyond. What are your plans?
In 2004, GLRF’s main goal was to foster interest in forming boats for the 2006 regattas and to increase visibility for GLRF in the rowing community.
In 2005, we want to move to the next step: helping crews prepare for 2006. We have created several polling questions in the ALL OARS message board, under GLRF 2005 and Beyond. The first forum is for all rowers. The other forums pertain to one of four regions: Australia, Canada, Europe, and US.

Head of the Charles – booth and social
It is our biggest public event yet! GLRF will be in the Expo Tent at the Head of the Charles. Stop by to see us showcase our main product – the GLRF website, and enter the GLRF raffle. You’re invited – the Boston Bay Blades are hosting a social. Saturday night, 23 October. Get an invite at the booth.
GLRF joins GLISA
On 10 Sep 2004, GLRF became a member of the new Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association. GLRF took this action because it supports and promotes gay and lesbian rowing worldwide. Since GLRF promotes both the Gay Games and the World Outgames, it makes sense to belong to both organizations. Get the full story.
